2022 World Cup: Richard Ofori only suffering from cold; to be named in Ghana’s squad for tournament

Published on: 13 November 2022

The latest update on the injury situation of Ghana goalkeeper Richard Ofori has given a boost to the Black Stars ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The experienced shot-stopper was excluded from the Orlando Pirates Carling Black Label Cup tie against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday over a reported injury.

However, insider sources at the club are now saying the goalkeeper only suffered a cold.

As a result, he should be included in the Ghana squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

His South African club is in contact with officials of the Ghana FA and will release him by the close of the day to join his Black Stars teammates in their Abu Dhabi camp.

Ghana head coach Otto Addo will on Monday, November 14, officially announce his final 26-man squad for the mundial.

This year’s world cup is scheduled to kick off in Qatar on Sunday, November 20.

Ghana has been drawn in Group H for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and will face the likes of Uruguay, Portugal, and South Korea.
