2023 AFCON: Ghana coach Otto Addo to name squad next week for Madagascar, CAR matches

Ghana coach Otto Addo is expected to name his squad for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next week.

The 46-year-old together with Chris Hughton, George Boateng and Mas-Ud Didi Dramani were re-appointed as coaches of the Black Stars until the end of December 2022 by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The quartet, who masterminded Ghana’s qualification to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament will stay on to see to Ghana’s preparation to the global showpiece, the 2023 AFCON qualifiers and the World Cup itself.

Ghana will kick off their AFCON qualifying campaign by hosting Madagascar at home on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 before before travelling to face off with Central African Republic on Sunday, June 5, 2022.

Otto became first Ghanaian to have represented Ghana at the World Cup and also qualified the team to the mundial as a coach.

Ghana have been placed in Group H for the World Cup together with Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.

The Black Stars will open their tournament at the global showpiece by taking on Portugal before playing South Korea and then wrap up their group campaign with a clash with Uruguay.

Ghana will be making their fourth appearance at the World Cup after missing the previous competition held in Russia four years ago.
