2023 AFCON Qualifiers: Black Stars expect full house by Monday night

Ghana coach Chris Hughton will be hoping to have his full squad by Monday night before the team departs to Kumasi for the Angola clash in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The four-time African champions face Palancas Negras on Thursday in a match many expect to be difficult as both sides seek to maintain their unbeaten start to the qualifiers.

Twenty-five players have been summoned for the AFCON doubleheader against Angola.

The players have begun to arrive for the Angola clash, with captain Andre Ayew being the first to report.

The Black Stars are unbeaten in Kumasi for the past two decades and are heavy favourites to defeat Angola before travelling to Luanda for the second match.

Ghana leads the qualifying group after a draw and a win in their first two games, but Angola is close behind, and two wins will give the Black Stars a solid chance to qualify.

Meanwhile, Ghana new coach Hughton will be unveiled this morning at the SG Mall in Kumasi.

The former Brighton boss was appointed in February, succeeding Otto Addo who was in charge of the team from March last year until their group stage elimination at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Hughton has vast experience in coaching having managed top clubs in the English Premier League including, Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Nottingham Forest.
