The team is preparing to face Angola in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game, and Hughton is determined to hit the ground running in his new role.

Hughton's appointment as head coach in February was met with excitement in Ghana, and his first squad selection included many of the players who represented Ghana in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The continuity of the squad is expected to help the team adapt quickly to Hughton's style of play. He has been with the team for a year as technical advisor before being named Ghana coach.

Hughton has a wealth of experience coaching several clubs in England, including Newcastle United and Norwich City.
