Black Stars head coach, Chris Hughton, has made a change to the squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Madagascar.
Kasim Adams has been called up to replace the injured Alexander Djiku.
Initially, Djiku was included in the squad for the fifth round AFCON qualifier. However, due to an ankle injury, he has been forced to withdraw from the team, opening up an opportunity for Adams to be drafted in.
Adams has recently concluded an impressive loan spell at Swiss side FC Basel.
The 27-year-old defender has earned 11 international caps for Ghana since his debut in 2017.
Adams' performances for Basel in the Swiss Super League have also been noteworthy, featuring in 28 matches and contributing with a goal and an assist.
Moreover, his participation in the UEFA Europa Conference League has been equally impressive, having played 11 matches and netting a crucial extra-time winner against Nice that propelled Basel to the semifinals.
In total, Adams boasts 46 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
As the Black Stars gear up for their upcoming AFCON qualifier against Madagascar, the team will commence their preparations in Accra, where they will begin their training camp on Monday, June 12.
The highly anticipated match will take place in Antananarivo on Sunday, July 18, 2023.
