6 of the Best Moments From an Incredible Weekend of Premier League Action

Published on: 04 December 2016

It was a weekend to delight neutrals, goal pervertsand people who aren't from the North West, full of talking points, goals and incredible action.

Chelsea tightened their grip on the top of the table, Spurs and Kane look back to their best, while there were fixtures to forget for Liverpool and the Manchester clubs.

Here's a roundup of some of the best moments from another fascinating weekend of Premier League football.

Best Goal

Alexis Sanchez scored a sublime hat trick against West Ham, to prove that the London Stadium could hold joy for at least one capital-based club.

All three goals from the Chilean displayed a different skill and his dominance of the oppositionwas reminiscent of Luis Suarez's four against Norwich exactly three years previous.

However, the stand out effort was the topper. Sanchez's blistering pace took him away from the defence, before finishing with a dummy and a dink to make it 5-1. Football porn.

Best Pass

Cesc Fabregas has become something of the forgotten man at Stamford Bridge. The 29-year-old has featured in just five Premier League ties this season and has been overlooked by Antonio Conte, who seems to prefer steel to style in the centre of the park.

However, the former Arsenal and Barcelona star returned to the lineup for the 1-3 victory over Manchester City without missing a beat.

Fabregas' pin-pointassist for Diego Costa's equaliser was truly superb. So superb in fact that the BBC's Garth Crooks' couldn't believe it was the out of favour Spaniard andgave the creditto David Luiz instead.

Best Punditry Fail

Like the man too proud to admit his mistakes that he is, Big Al refused to back down when given the opportunity on Match of the Day to rethink his claim that there is only one world class player in the Premier League (Sergio Aguero).

Sanchez's audition for the former Newcastle striker's praise didn't seem to warm his heart, and egged on by themore generousChris Sutton and Gary Lineker, the best Shearer could summon was:"well if he wins Arsenal the title he will be".

Best Game

Prior to the encounter the Cherries had never beaten a top four team in the Premier League, let alone Liverpool.

At 3-1 down with 64 minutes on the clock, it looked like they were in no danger of changing their own history. However, an amazing last 15 minutes and some suspect defending saw Bournemouth comeback to secure a last minute victory over the high-flyers, who had been unbeaten in 15.

Even Jurgen Klopp had to begrudgingly admiring of the grit and determination of Eddie Howe's men, and the sheer lunacy of the sport sometimes.

Best/Worst Tackle

There were a few contenders this weekend.

Marcos Rojo and Aguero could both have secured the less than coveted award on different dates, but for Neil Taylor's insane karate kick to the head of the unsuspecting Kyle Walker.

Bizarrely Jonathan Moss decided the studs to the nostrils play didn't even warrant a yellow. Moss wasprobably impressedthat Taylor can get his leg that high.
