Gennaro Gattuso has released his squad of 23 players for AC Milan’s Serie A clash against Atalanta with Mattia Caldara and Patrick Cutrone both notable omissions.
Cutrone continues to struggle with an ankle injury which has seen the 20-year-old striker miss the Rossoneri’s clash against Cagliari in addition to their midweek Europa League match.
Meanwhile Milan’s new centre-back is believed to have been left out as a precautionary measure for muscle fatigue, having played 90 minutes against F91 Dudelange on Thursday.
Gattuso’s men have had a mixed start to the season with only one win from three Serie A matches. The victory came against Roma when the now-injured Cutrone entered the game late and went on to grab a dramatic 94th-minute winner.
The Rossoneri will need to look elsewhere for heroics against the Nerazzurri.
