AC Milan make contact with Genoa over striking hotshot

The performances of Krzystof Piatek this season have understandably not gone unnoticed and AC Milan have enquired about his availability with Genoa.

This year, the Pole has been one of Serie A’s revelations and has scored 19 goals in 20 domestic starts for the Rossoblu so far, garnering widespread interest in his services.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Rossoneri are growing increasingly uneasy about the prospect of losing striker Gonzalo Higuain this month, particularly with Chelsea so keenly interested, and as such are intent on snapping up the Genoa ace as a replacement.

Milan sporting director Leonardo has made phone contact with Grifoni president Enrico Preziosi and has discussed a possible initial loan move with the option to make the move permanent during the summer window.

However, it hasn’t been ruled out that Genoa negotiate for an outright transfer, with the fee received being spread out over several years but they will not allow the 23-year-old to depart on the cheap, particularly with Real Madrid also linked to him.

However, it should also be noted that despite the Diavolo’s trepidation about losing Higuain this month, a formal offer has not been submitted by Maurizio Sarri’s side for the Argentine and while they would have been keen on a possible swap involving Alvaro Morata, the Spaniard’s €15 million annual salary is too high for them to consider.
