Accra Sports Stadium to host replay of 2019 President Cup

The Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Kudjoe Fianoo, has hinted that the rescheduled game between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak in the President Cup could be moved to the Accra Sports Stadium.

The two giants of Ghana football locked horns at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium last Sunday but only ended up playing 10 minutes of football action.

The match had to be called off due to the fact that heavy rainfall on the day had left the pitch water-soaked.

With organizers having assured that they will make arrangements for the match to be played at a later date, Kudjoe Fianoo has revealed that they are planning to move the match to Accra.

The decision according to him is because of the imminent closure of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to allow for some renovation works.

“There could be a change of venue if the Baba Yara Stadium will not be available because the stadium was supposed to be closed for renovations but for Kotoko's participation in Africa”, Kudjoe Fianoo said in an interview with the media.

He has subsequently disclosed that the match could be played on either October 6 and October 13 to ensure it does not clash with Kotoko’s campaign in the CAF Champions League.

“After meeting today GHALCA is looking at October 6 and October 13 having in mind Asante Kotoko's CAF competitions engagement and also our sponsors which is government and for that matter the ministry of youth and sports”, Mr. Fianoo told Oyerepa FM.
