AFCON 2017: Ghana coach Avram Grant laments on poor pitches at tournament

Head coach of the Ghana Black Stars Avram Grant has lamented on the poor state of pitches hosting the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Grant lost his left-back Baba Rahman to injury on Tuesday with his group D opponents Egypt also losing their goalkeepers to injury. The tournament has so far seen five players suffer serious injuries due to the poor nature of the pitches which comes as an unpleasant news to the Israeli.

“I will be honest like always. I think we need to remember one thing.” “We need to give the fans the best thing that we can by playing good football on good pitches. The main actors are the players and we need to give them the best that we can.” “Five injuries now because of the pitch and I suggest that the committee should allow the teams to select and replace players who get injured because we can’t change the pitch causing the damage now.” Grant said. The Black stars are scheduled to play Mali on Saturday in their second group D game of the tournament.
