AFCON 2017: Let's forgive the Black Stars - Rev. Dr Lawrence Tetteh appeals to Ghanaians

Renowned and international evangelist of the Worldwide Miracle Outreach (WMO), Rev. Dr Lawrence Tetteh, has urged Ghanaians to forgive the senior national male team, the Black Stars, as they embark on their quest to conquer Africa tomorrow in Gabon.

In an interview with the DAILY HERITAGE in Accra, the founder and president of the WMO also asked Ghanaians to spiritually and morally throw their weight behind the team in the ongoing African Cup of Nations tournament.

“A win for the team is a win for the nation because they are representing us in the tourney. Ghanaians must know that they are our own; therefore we must forgive them and move on by supporting them with prayers.

“They have realised that what they did at the last World Cup in Brazil in 2014 was wrong and have promised it will not happen again,” he said.

The renowned evangelist disclosed that “I have spoken to some of the players and what I found out was that some of them are seeking the face of the almighty God for glory.”

The Black Stars have a history of starting such as tournament on a slow note by sometimes even recording a loss or a draw in their first group opening matches, but the international man of God believe that this time round “the Black Stars know that Ghanaians will need a win to attract more support for them and so will go for the victory tomorrow.

“Thirty-five years is too long for a trophy drought so the boys are determined to break that long jinx.

“The team will pull a surprise despite majority of Ghanaians having given up on them and I think it is possible [a slogan he shares with the boys when they meet] that they will bring the trophy home,” he said.

Since 2008, Dr Tetteh has been with the team and leads them in worship and prayer. He thinks the success of the team depends on God and not any rituals.

The Black Stars will tomorrow evening clash with their counterparts from Uganda in the Group D opening match. Teams in group D are Ghana, Uganda, Mali and Egypt.

Dr. Tetteh added that he would soon travel to Gabon to be with the team.
