Published on: 24 June 2019

The President of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will be in Egypt tomorrow to watch the Black Stars play against the Squirrels of Benin at the Ismaily Stadium.

The two teams will lock horns in a Group F encounter on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, as they kick start their campaign in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

It can be recalled that the President indicated he will be in Egypt to watch the Black Stars play their opening match earlier this month when the team met with him at the Jubilee House prior to their departure to Dubai for their pre-tournament training camp.

President Nana Addo shared, “It’s my intention to come and watch your first match on the 25th of June. I will be in Egypt to see you play and if with God’s grace, which I believe he will give us, and we make the final I am going to come there as well and watch”.

“I will bring you the support of the entire nation. So we wish you the very best of luck and, hopefully, the next time we meet each other it will be good times again for Ghanaian football. I know you are ready and crying for it so go out there and let our people also be happy. They have been moaning for too long and the time is now to lift their spirits”.

With just a day away from the match, reports indicate that the President will depart Ghana for Egypt tonight in order to get the opportunity of watching the Stars start off their campaign in the 2019 AFCON tomorrow.

The match will be played tomorrow at the Ismaily Stadium. Kickoff is at 20:00GMT.
