AFCON 2022 qualifiers: Local players to be snubbed

Ghana-based players are set to be snubbed for the upcoming Black Stars qualifiers to the 2022 Africa Cup of Nationals, Footballghana.com can report.

Ghana is resuming the qualifiers next month in line with a decision from CAF to continue the qualifiers after over 7 months of its suspension.

Earlier this month when Ghana played 2 friendly matches against Mali and Qatar, not even a single locally based player made it into coach CK Akonnor’s team.

According to checks from close sources to the team, this is largely because of the inactive local league which is yet to start after its cancelation in June.

Ghana will take on Sudan in a doubleheader game next month for Matchday 3 and 4 of Group C in the qualifiers to the next AFCON tournament.
