The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has rubbished speculations that the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament could be further pushed to a latter date.

Amid the change in the date for the FIFA club World Cup, there are rumors that CAF is contemplating on rescheduling the date the already postponed AFCON could be staged.

Reacting to the news, Caf's director of communications Alex Siewe no discussions have been done between his outfit and leading Cameroon officials on taking such a decision.

"We can't keep spending time dealing with rumours," he told BBC Sport Africa while adding, "We did not receive any other message or information from our leaders - nothing such as changing of dates or countries. We did not discuss such during all our last meetings."

"We are on site. We are working."

As it stands now, the 2021 TotalEnergies AFCON will start on January 9 and end on February 6, 2022.
