Africa News: Lesotho Premier League clubs agree to cancel 2019/2020 season

Published on: 06 July 2020

The Clubs in the Lesotho Premier League have reached a consensus to cancel the 2019/2020 football season as a result of the Coronavirus (Covud-19) crisis.

The campaign has been on suspension since March because of the Covid-19 pandemic which has made it difficult for football activities to continue.

With leagues in Europe and other parts of the world making a return last month, the Lesotho Premier League Management Committee has also been engaging clubs on the possibility of continuing their campaign.

At the first meeting in June, clubs agreed for the season to be declared null and void but the PLMC wanted to wait a bit to watch how the COVID-19 crisis pans out in the next few weeks.

Just last weekend, another meeting has been held with the Premier League clubs and the PLMC agreeing for the cancelation of the football season.

There will be no winner for the season and there will also be no relegated teams as well.
