Agyemang Badu: Ghana in need of a striker of Asamoah Gyan’s calibre

Former Black Stars midfield powerhouse, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu says Ghana currently needs a striker in the calibre of Asamoah Gyan.

This comes on the back of the National team’s inability to score in its last two international friendly matches against Morocco and Ivory Coast.

In those games, the Black Stars lost 1-0 to the Atlas Lions in Rabat before going on to draw goalless with the Elephants at the Cape Coast Stadium.

With goal scoring proving to be a problem for the Black Stars ahead of the qualifiers to the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup, Agyemang Badu insists Ghana should look for a striker build in the mound of Asamoah Gyan.

“What we [Ghana] need now is a typical striker as I feel Jordan Ayew is more comfortable playing behind a striker,” he said in an interview on GHOne TV.

Badu continued, “Everyone knows we miss a striker like Asamoah Gyan. We may not get someone who has a potential like his, Gyan will be very difficult to replace.”

Asamoah Gyan since the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament have not featured for the Black Stars.
