Akufo-Addo prays for safe rescue of Ghana forward Christian Atsu after earthquake in Turkey

The President of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reacted to the devastating earthquake that has hit Turkey and Syria.

In a short statement, the President has extended a message of condolence to the governments of the two countries following several losses of lives.

Meanwhile, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says he prays and hopes that Ghana forward Christian Atsu will be located safe and sound.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Ghana, I extend heartfelt condolences to the Governments and peoples of Turkey and Syria on the devastation and the tragic loss of lives occasioned by Monday’s earthquake.

“May their souls rest in perfect peace. Our hearts and prayers go out to the survivors, and we pray that our fellow Ghanaian, Christian Atsu, is found safe and sound,” President Akufo-Addo said in a post on Twitter.

Since the earthquake on Monday morning, over 1,000 people have been confirmed dead with the number of casualties expected to surpass 5,000 by the close of the day.
