Alaves have named Asier Garitano as their new coach after Abelardo decided to leave the club at the end of his contract.
The 49-year-old has been without a job since being sacked by Real Sociedad in December after his side had lost eight of their first 17 league games of the campaign.
Garitano guided Leganes to promotion to La Liga in 2016 and has also coached the likes of Alicante, Castelion and Alcoyano.
"Deportivo Alaves want to welcome the coach from Vergara and wish him the best of luck in his new era as a blue-and-white," Alaves, who finished 11th this season, said in a statement.
"Alaves did their utmost to keep hold of me," said Abelardo, who had been in charge of the club since December 2017. "I know myself better than anyone and knew I couldn't reach the same heights as I have this season, which is why I chose to leave now."
Meanwhile, Barcelona are 1/4 to win the Copa del Rey for the fifth time in a row on Saturday. A Valencia victory can be backed at 11/4.
