Ghanaian winger Albert Adomah has thanked Roberto Di Matteo for bringing him to Aston Villa and is looking forward to being a part of their derby against Birmingham City on Sunday afternoon.
The 28-year-old winger was purchased by Di Matteo on transfer deadline day from recently-promoted Premier League outfit Middlesbrough.
However, the Italian was sacked by the club in early October, after a number of poor performances which saw promotion expert Steve Bruce take the reigns at Villa Park.
Nonetheless, Ghana International Adomah was still grateful to his former manager, as the showdown with Birmingham City on Sunday afternoon edges closer.
“I have to say thank you to him because obviously he signed me and if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be here and no-one would know about Albert Adomah,” Adomah told the Birmingham Mail.
“I have to say a massive thank you to him and I thought he was a great manager. It just didn’t work.”
Adomah has played seven games for Villa this season, providing two assists, and came off the bench to inspire Bruce’s side to a 1-0 victory against Fulham in their previous league encounter.
He is now likely to start the fixture against Blues on Sunday afternoon at St Andrews, after his club manager revealed he is fit to travel with the squad for the short trip.
