Aleix Vidal Reportedly Tells Barcelona Teammates He 'Wants to Leave' the Club With Liverpool Primed

Right-back Aleix Vidal is ready to call time on his Barcelona career after reportedly telling his team-mates that he wants to leave the club, with reports in theMetroclaimingthat Liverpool have already made an approach for the player.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is keen to bolster his defensive ranks, with his team garnering a reputation for a weak defensive as well as a powerful front-line. The club may look to bring the player in in January or in the summer.

Spanish news outlet El Mundo Deportivo claims that Vidal has had enough of being overlookedby Barcelona boss Luis Enrique, and wants out of the Camp Nou.

The full-back is alleged to have said: "It's clear to me, I want to leave" during a discussion with his fellow players in the Catalan club's dressing room amid rumours that his relationship with Enrique has deteriorated beyond repair.

Enrique has not chosen Vidal to feature in his 18-man match-day squad for six matches in a row after the former Real Madrid and Barcelona star was left less-than-impressed by Vidal's showing in the 2-1 shock defeat to Alaves in La Liga, as well as his below-par performances in training.

The right-back was seen as the obvious successor to Dani Alves, who departed to join Juventus in the summer, but Enrique has opted to play midfielder Sergi Roberto as a makeshift full back instead, with the 24-year-old's form for his club earning him a recall to the Spanish national side.

Sporting director Robert Fernandez is also believed to have attempted to repair relations between Enrique and Vidal, but has so far failed to bring about any form of reconciliation.

Vidal is currently contracted to Barcelona until the summer of 2020, but it is unclear whether the defender will be sold in the January transfer window or merely loaned out for the remainder of the season.

Rumours had linked Barcelona with a move for Arsenal's Hector Bellerin as a possible replacement for Vidal, but are now said to have switched their attentions to Valencia's Joao Cancelo instead.

The latest speculation surrounding Vidal's future comes after the 26-year-old took to his official Instagram account to publicly slate Barcelona over freezing him out in Catalunya.

Vidal appeared to swear at his current employers in the controversial post - a move that will have done little to help ease tensions between himself and the Barcelona hierarchy.

Barcelona bought Vidal for a reported £14m from La Liga rivals Sevilla in July 2015, but have utilised the ex-Almeria player on just 16 occasions since his switch from the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium 15 months ago.
