Vice Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Mr Alex Akummey has called on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to cancel the 2019/20 football season.

Football has come to a standstill since March 15 following the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.

In the President latest address on the measures to help curb the spread of the virus, football remain suspended until July 30.

With the FA, however, expected to make a decision on the future of football on June 30, Mr Akummey believes it will be in the right direction to call off the season.

“Of course yes!  Before the easing of the of restrictions we believed things will go down so that we can return to the league since we can endure within three months without football but no player can stay away from individual training for five months," he told Max FM.

“Why do we keep the clubs in suspense?

"Let me tell everybody that we should cancel the league,” he added.
