Allegri: Juventus expected this kind of match

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri expected the Bianconeri to have a hard time, as they left it late to defeat Frosinone 2-0.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Federico Bernardeschi netted in the final 10 minutes to keep the Old Lady’s perfect start to the season going.

After being forced to play much of their midweek match against Valencia with 10 men, Allegri knew Frosinone would provide a different challenge.

“We expected this kind of match,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “We were coming off a match in which we played with 10 men for 70 minutes, while they conceded five times.

“In the second half the lads did well to bring some pace and composure to their play, and the goal came.

“In the first half Emre Can was dropping too deep, and we struggled to provide any solidity. With [Miralem] Pjanic in front of the defence things were better.”

Napoli sit just three points back of Juventus,

“Given Napoli have accumulated as points as they have in the last three years, it’s clear they can keep up with us,” he added.

“They have done well and they have a great coach on their bench. He is getting his ideas across and you can tell that.

“The other teams are further behind we must do well to keep our foot on the accelerator.”

Juventus’ next match is at home against Bologna on Wednesday.
