Allegri: Juventus will face difficult Manchester United challenge

Published on: 31 August 2018

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri is looking forward to getting the club’s Champions League campaign started, in what he admitted to being a challenging group for the club.

Finalists in 2015 and 2017, the Bianconeri have been pitted against English Premier League runners up Manchester United, as well as Spanish club Valencia and Young Boys of Switzerland.

The fixtures will see Juventus’ marquee summer signing Cristiano Ronaldo come up against his former club in Manchester United, whilst Red Devils midfielder Paul Pogba will also take on the Bianconeri for the first time since departing in 2016.

Allegri took to social media to voice his thoughts on the group drawn in Monte Carlo on Thursday, and warned his side of the difficulties that lay ahead.

“A challenging group, with teams of absolute value, great tradition and historic stadia. This is the new campaign in the Champions League,” the former AC Milan tactician tweeted.

Juventus will begin their Champions League campaign at Valencia on 19 September, before welcoming Young Boys to the Allianz Stadium on 2 October.
