Alvaro Morata Reveals He Had '5 or 6 Calls a Day' During Euro 2016 Amid Premier League Interest

Real Madrid star Alvaro Morata has revealed he was fielding 'five to six' enquiries each day during Spain's involvement at Euro 2016,Goal.comreports.

The 23-year-old eventually returned to the Bernabeu from Serie A champions Juventus after the Champions League winners activated the buy-back clause, which is thought to have been around £30m, inserted in his contract with the Turin-based club.

The Spain international, who was the joint-second top goalscorer in France with three goals, was the subject of intense speculation for most of the summer. Reports claimed Real, the club he left in 2014 for a reported fee of £17m, were interested in re-signing him only to then move him on for considerable profit.

Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea were two of the club mooted with an interest in the forward, with rumours speculating that both sides were quoted with a £60m fee should they pursue the striker.

But Morata, who scored on his Bernabeu return in the 2-1 against Celta Vigo last Saturday, remained part of Zinedine Zidane's plans for this season. He, however, has recalled the difficulties he endured during Euro 2016.

"It was hard for me to be at Euro 2016 and have five or six phone calls every day from different places," he told Spanish publication Marca.

"I was focused enough, and professional enough, to deal with the situation."

The young Spanish striker is expected to challenge Karim Benzema for the striker's berth for the upcoming season but the Frenchman has been sidelined with injuries at the start of the La Liga campaign. The Champions League winners have declined to offer a return date for the former Lyon man, who is thought to be suffering from back and hip problems.
