Goalkeeper for RSC Anderlecht, Hendrik Van Crombrugge has observed that the sending off of Ghanaian teenager Jérémy Doku partly contributed to their defeat to KV Mechelen.

The diminutive winger was in action for the Belgian giants but received a red card on the brink of halftime that forced his club to play with 10 men in the second half.

At the end of the clash between the Belgium Pro League sides, KV Mechelen emerged as 2-0 winners as they bagged all available 3 points.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Anderlecht goalie Hendrik Van Crombrugge shared that playing with a man down forced the side to change their approach.

“We were in control, we were getting opportunities, then there is the cardboard … and in the second period, it grows. At 10, we are forced to return to their physical game”, the goalkeeper said.

Despite making that point, Hendrik Van Crombrugge says he cannot lash out at Jeremy Doku while citing that he did so many good things on the matchday.

"If I take it out on Doku? The only one who can take it out on Doku is himself and he is very angry with himself. He has already done so many positive things. He is a very young player and that is part of the learning process. Jérémy knows that at eleven, we would win the match", the goalie noted.
