Andre Ayew's former teammate Neil Taylor has tipped him to win over the doubters at West Ham, but hopes the former Swansea City man will wait until after Boxing Day to rediscover his best form.
The Ghanaian was Swansea's top scorer last year, with his dozen goals playing a big part in the Welsh club moving clear of relegation danger.
His performances were enough to earn him a big-money move to West Ham, who splashed out a club-record £20.5million to sign the former Marseille man.
But it has not been an easy start to life at the London Stadium for the 27-year-old.
Deputy Black Stars captain, Ayew suffered a hamstring injury on his debut, which kept him sidelined for two months and has taken time to find form for his new club while mainly being used as a substitute by Slaven Bilic.
Some supporters have not been impressed with Ayew's displays, but Taylor knows just how good the former BBC African Footballer of the Year can be, and expects him to be a potent attacking outlet for the Londoners.
"Andre was a very clever player, he had an excellent ability to know when to arrive in the box, to know how to time his run," said Taylor.
"His link up play was good, he is very experienced and had a bit of a sixth sense of where he needed to be to score goals.
"He used his attributes really well. He was an important player for us last season, hence why West Ham paid a large amount of money to sign him.
"Good luck to him, it was an exciting move for him, they had a good year last year and a new stadium to move into.
"I know he has had an injury to contend with but there is no doubt he will make an impact there.
"He has not had an easy time of it, when you have an injury like that it can take up to four or five months for the player to have that confidence and to be at his best.
"Everyone wants an instant impact but it is never quite as simple as that. He will turn out to be very good, just hopefully not on Monday."
