In the extra time, a free kick by Filip Kostic landed in the visitors' goal via Martin Hinteregger and Guido Rodriguez in the first minute of extra time to make it 1-1. It was the latest goal in Europa League history.

Ansgar Knauff, a youngster who could have brought a bit more comfort earlier with his great opportunity that struck the crossbar, was astonished by the scene.

"It's difficult to put into words," said the 20-year-old. "It's just a great feeling, these are the nights you play football for. We gave it our all and made it in the end. We're overjoyed to be in the quarter-finals," he said after the game.
