Ghana Football Association President Kwasi Nyantakyi has lauded the Black Stars players for their high display of patriotism.

The team opened training ahead of their game against Rwanda on Tuesday with 13 players.

Ten of them foreign based players paid for their air tickets following the Sports Ministry’s refusal to finance their trips.

The team’s build up has been overshadowed by the player selection impasse between the sports ministry and the Ghana FA whose President Kwasi Nyantakyi met the players and applauded them for showing love towards mother Ghana

“We are happy that you are here, unfortunately there were issues about payment of tickets to fly you down and some of you the foreign based players here and others who are yet to join contributed monies to ensure that you came,” he said

“So I want to thank you very much for showing a very high sense of patriotism.

“I would like to appeal to you to focus on the preparation and let us put all the issues and problems that confronted us and focus on this match, it is an important game.”

Ghana will take on Rwanda at the Accra Stadium on Saturday.
