Arsenal Boss Arsene Wenger Says Winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 'Has Made a Lot of Progress'

Published on: 04 December 2016

With two goals and three assists in his 12 league appearances this season, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is already having his most fruitful season so far with the Gunners.

Speaking to Arsenal.com - the club's official website - Wenger said: He has made a lot of progress this season.

He plays with a freedom and power. When he wins the ball in your half he has that power to get you out. I hope that continues for him.

In their 5-1 win over London rivals West Ham, Chamberlain set Mesut Ozil up to open the scoring before adding a goal of his own later on in the game to make it 4-1.

With his current goal involvement, Chamberlain has doubled his goal-scoring record over the last two league seasons and trebled his assist tally - the forward only had one assist in the previous two seasons.

Taking on the rest of the Premier League with Alexis Sanchez as their main striker, Arsenal have a vacant spot on the wing which has been filled by one of: Ramsey, Walcott, Iwobi or Chamberlain so far this season with one of the others most likely operating on the other side in this 4-2-3-1 formation.

The Englishman will be hoping to continue in a similar vein in order to cement his place in this Arsenal side as they mount a challenge for the Premier League title.
