Arsenal have denied Alexis Sanchez has handed in a transfer request.
Independent journalist Shehab Khan sent Twitter into a frenzy on Monday by reporting the news that Sanchez had made the request.
However, he soon rescinded his tweet and apologised for his actions. Khan said: "Want to apologise unreservedly about the Sanchez tweet. Saw it tweeted elsewhere on a few accounts, thought it was news and I tweeted."
According to Sky Sports, the club have emphatically refuted the claim.
The news comes after Arsenal's embarrassing 4-0 loss to Liverpool on Sunday, with Sanchez visibly frustrated when he was substituted in the second half.
The Chilean has 11 months to run on his contract, but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has reiterated time and time again that he will remain at the Emirates to see out the remainder of his current deal.
Sanchez has been linked with a reunion with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, who managed the 28-year old at Barcelona.
