Arsenal are reportedly eyeing up a January move for Marseille defensive starletBoubacar Kamara with boss Arsene Wenger keen to bolster his options in the new year.

The Gunners have enjoyed a good start to the season so far, having gone unbeaten in all competitions since the opening day of the season, and sit just three points off of leaders Chelsea after just 12 games in the league.

A huge reason for this is down to the £30m summer acquisition of central defender Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia, who has formed a solid partnership with Laurent Koscielny to add some resistance to a back four that has faltered in recent years.

Despite this however, according to French news outletL'Equipe, Wenger is looking to strengthen his back four further in the winter transfer window, and hascontacted Kamara's representatives at the Ligue 1 club in order to begin negotiations to bring the player to north London.

The 17-year-old is one of the stand out youngsters in the French division, but is yet to sign a fully professional contract with Marseille, which has alerted Wenger to the possibility of a 'snatch and grab' technique to ensure the bright prospect can learn the ropes of English football.

Should Kamara join the Gunners, he would more than likely be placed within the youth ranks to continue his development, and could be tempted by a move that has seen other French players become household names under Wenger's guidance, despite Marseille being his boyhood club.
