Arsenal in Benzema contact but Real Madrid president Florentino demands...

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is the subject of fresh interest from Arsenal.

Despite penning new terms earlier this season, Real chiefs are actively discussing selling Benzema after a dismal first-half of this campaign.

Benzema is well aware of the attitude inside the boardroom and has had his agents get on the front foot.

Diario Gol says long-term interest from Arsenal has been reignited - and relayed to Real president Florentino Perez via Benzema's intermediaries.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has long admired Benzema and sees him as an ideal replacement for wantaway contract rebel Alexis Sanchez.

The stumbling block is Arsenal's valuation, with it being made clear to Perez they won't go higher than €40m. For his part, the Real president rates the striker closer to €60m.
