Arsenal legend Tony Adams has revealed Gerard Houllier urged Arsene Wenger to retire two years ago.
Adams claims the former Liverpool boss made the appeal after the FA Cup final.
He told The Times: “Arsene's a great coach but not as good as Don Howe.
"Sir Alex Ferguson was definitely a better motivator, better delegator, and communicator.
"I feel sorry for Arsene. He can't let go of Arsenal. He hasn't got a life.
"I know Gerard Houllier said to him after the FA Cup final in 2015, 'Arsene, let it go, call it a day.'"
