Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is set to be sidelined for 4 to 6 six weeks after sustaining an ankle injury against Chelsea in a pre-season friendly, according to Sports scientist Dr. Rajpal Brar.

The 28-year-old was substituted after picking a nasty knock in their pre-season friendly defeat at the Emirates stadium.

He went under a strong challenge from Ruben Loftus-Cheek and could not continue the game.

Arsenal fans want the Ghanaian back with two weeks to the start of 2021/22 season but medical expert Dr. Rajpal Brar, DPT has offered his opinion on how long Partey could be on the sidelines for.

"Found the specific mechanism of injury for Partey (see picture)," he wrote on Twitter. "This is typically indicative of a 'high ankle sprain' aka syndesmotic tear.

"These typically come with a 4-6 week return timeline if a grade 1 injury.

"Recent example is Harry Maguire."

Partey joined the English Premier League outfit last summer from Spanish La Liga side Atletico Madrid.

Although he had a bright start to life in the European country, various injury setbacks meant that Arsenal did not fully benefit from his quality in his debut season.

Last season, he made 33 appearances across all competitions and provided three assists in the process.
