Arsenal were knocked out of the EFL Cup at the quarter-final stage by Southampton on Wednesday night after first halfgoals from Jordy Clasie and Ryan Bertrand at the Emirates.

But rather than express obvious disappointment at missing out on a piece of very winnable silverware, the Gunners' official Twitter account didn't seem bothered because it was merely one 'L' in a long list of Ws and Ds.

The impression that the tweet gave is that they don't really care all that much about being knocked out of a cup because they've being getting such good results elsewhere.

Prior to meeting Southampton,Arsenal hadn't been beaten since the opening day of the season back in mid-August, and their results haveincluded a near perfect run of 12 wins over a 14 game span that only recently came to an end.

The reality is, losing the oddPremier League or Champions League group game here and there isn't going to automatically stop you laying hands on a trophy.Losing a cup game is.

But maybe, just maybe, there willsomeday be a trophy for finishing fourth, third orsecond.
