Arsenal step up interest for Thomas Partey

Arsenal have decided to focus highly on recruiting Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey and are confident that a deal could be done according to The Athletic.

In the past few months, the Gunners have been heavily linked to the Black Stars talisman who reportedly has a release clause of 50 million euros.

According to the Athletic, Arsenal are trying to negotiate for a lower fee with regards to the 27 year old and are hopeful that Atletico Madrid will agree to their terms.

The Spanish club has offered him a new deal which will see him double his current 65,000 pound wages. The player reportedly does not want the new deal and seeks an exit from the club.

Mikel Arteta is also reportedly growing fed up with Matteo Guendouzi's attitude and wants him out of the club. He sees Partey as an upgrade on the Frenchman.

Thomas Partey has made 30 La Liga appearances this season and scored two goals.
