Arsenal appear to have been handed a blow ahead of the upcoming January transfer window as reports from France claim Paris Saint-Germain have struck an agreement to sign Julian Draxler.
The talented German attacker has been on the Gunners' radar for some time - since his days with former club Schalke in fact - but he ended up joining Bundesliga rivals Wolfsburg in the summer of 2015. Draxler has shown his quality in spells but has recently fallen out with decision-makers at the club, and had handed in a transfer request.
Info @RMCsport : #Draxler dit oui au #PSG ! Le PSG et le joueur ont quasiment trouvé un accord contractuel sur un contrat de 4 ans et demi !
It was expected that the Gunners would make a move for the player either next month or in the summer, however it quickly emerged that the French champions were the leading contenders to sign him - despite their domestic struggles this season.
RMC now report that PSG have reached an agreement with the player over his contract details, and that once a fee is agreed between the two clubs, he will sign a four-and-a-half year deal in the French capital. It's expected that Draxler will cost PSG somewhere in the region between€30m and€40m.
Gunners star Mesut Ozil had attempted to convince Draxler that the right move for him was to the Emirates Stadium, however it now appears that his manager has another player to add to the list of "players Arsenal nearly signed."
