Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey Recalls Nervy Debut Eight Years on From Gunners Bow

Arsenal Midfielder Aaron Ramsey has spoken about what it meant to him to pull on the Gunners colours for the first time as Saturday marks eight years to the day since his debut for the club.

Speaking to the club's official website, Ramsey conceded that it was a nervy occasion after signing for Arsene Wenger's side in 2008 from Welsh side Cardiff City.

The now well-established first team midfielder made his bow for the club in a Champions League first leg qualifier with Dutch side FC Twente.

Having only recently joined the club, the Welshman was thrusted into Wenger's starting eleven with a number of key players missing.

Cesc Fabregas missed the tie which gave a teenage Ramsey his first team debut and the 25-year-old has recalled what the occasion meant to him.

"I had a chance to make my full debut, which was incredible. I was really nervous going into the game, playing with the players that I was at the time."

Whilst delighted to have broken into the side at just 17-years-old, Ramsey is accepting that it was perhaps not his finest outing for the club.

"I don't think I was (happy with my performance). Like I said, I was nervous at the time and was just glad we won the game. I think the nerves might have got the better of me on that day."

Since his debut for the club, 'Rambo' as he is affectionately known around the Emirates has gone on to make more than 250 appearances for the Gunners and is fondly remembered for his 2014 FA Cup final winner.
