Arsene Wenger Names the Arsenal Youngster That Can Challenge Mesut Ozil for His Position

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has backed wingerAlex Iwobi to eventually play as a No 10 for the Gunners.

The 20-year-old has made an excellent start to the season, predominantly playing on the left and has established himself in the first team, but Wenger believes the young Nigerian doesn't possess the traits of a typical winger.

"You see, he is not a typical winger and I think he can play in that [number 10] role," said Wenger, viaMetro.

"He turns the game forward, he passes the ball through the lines very well. He has a final ball in him. He is now a little bit, I think he has it all in the locker to pass and give the final ball."

Wenger made sure to add some constructive criticism, though, calling on Iwobi to improve when in front of goal.

"What you want from him now is the finishing, you know," he added."That's still a little part that is missing in his game. I think he is too nervous at the moment when he has the possibility to finish."

Iwobi is yet to score for Arsenal this season, although he has assisted three times in the Premier League.

The young winger doesn't seem to be after Mesut Ozil's place in the team, however, quoted recently in theEvening Standarddescribing playing with such players as a "dream".

It's a young man's dream to play with such players. Ever since I've been training with them I always feel like I'm improving and I'm learning things to do," Iwobi said.

They always help me on and off the pitch, it helps me and does make me the person I am today.
