Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has disclosed that he is uncertain whether Thomas Partey will recover in time to play for Ghana in the international break.

The midfielder is one of 28 players invited by Black Stars head coach Milovan Rajevac for the games against Ethiopia and South Africa in the qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking in a post-match interview after the win against Watford, Mikel Arteta provided an uninspiring update on the player’s injury.

The Arsenal gaffer said; “Let’s see what happens with Thomas. He wasn’t available to play today. He’s got a muscle injury, and we don’t know how it’s going to evolve, so let’s take it day by day.”

The injury is a major blow for Ghana who trail South Africa by a point in the Group G standings of the Africa qualifiers.

Coach Milovan Rajevac and the Ghana FA are said to be in talks with Arsenal to see if Thomas Partey could be released for the final game against South Africa.
