General Captain for the Black Stars of Ghana, Asamoah Gyan has bemoaned the manner in which Ghana exited the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament whiles describing the loss to Tunisia as disappointing.

The Black Stars were sent home packing from the tournament yesterday after they were defeated 5-4 on penalties by the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.

The two teams faced off in the last round of 16 match of the tournament hoping to advance into the quarter-finals. Though the West African country went into the match as favorites, they were held to a one-all draw at the end of 90 minutes plus extra time and went on to lose on penalties.

Speaking in an interview with Joy FM after the shocking defeat, Asamoah Gyan maintained that Ghana was the better side and should have won the game. According to him, it is disappointing to have lost on the day especially when they had so many goal scoring opportunities.

“We were better than them. They have some quality players but I think we dominated the game. After their one nil, we dominated the game. We were pushing, we came back, and we couldn’t score the late winner”.

“But we had a couple of chances that we could have won the game. It is quite disappointing”, the veteran attacker noted.
