Asamoah Gyan blames player’s attitude for Legon Cities shaky start to GPL campaign

Ghana and Legon Cities goal poacher, Asamoah Gyan has attributed his outfit poor start to the Ghana Premier League campaign to attitude and mentality of players.

The Royals have had a shaky start in the ongoing campaign despite a huge outlay in the just ended transfer window. They drew 1-1 with Berekum Chelsea in their opening game and lost 3-0 to Great Olympics on matchday 2.

The turn of events led to the sacking of Serbian trainer Goran Barjaktarevic with veteran Ghanaian Coach Bashir Hayford replacing him.

But according to the legendary Ghanaian striker, the attitude put up by players before and during games can be better in order to achieve good results in subsequent games.

Gyan believes the mental preparedness and general attitude prior to games must improve and it’s something the team is working on.

“For me I think it’s something about our attitude. We weren’t giving enough and I think the players have agreed with me. We’ve had couple of meetings and everybody agrees with our attitude approaching games,” Gyan told the club’s online TV channel in an interview.

“It’s rather unfortunate that we’ve gotten one point out of two games. It happens but what we need to do is we need to show our attitude and aggression that we want to win games.

“That is how we can win games,” he stressed.

Gyan who is yet to feature for the side is hoping to be ready for their upcoming clash against Medeama SC at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Ghana Premier League Match Week 3 encounter will take place on Friday November 27, with kick-off slated for 6:00 PM GMT.
