Asamoah Gyan insists it will be difficult for Ghana to qualify for Russia 2018

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan fears the Black Stars dream of making it to Russia 2018 is over, following Friday’s 1-1 draw with Congo.

The Black Stars of Ghana failed to take advantage of Egypt’s defeat to Uganda drawing at home to the East Africans.

Thievy Bifouma capitalized on a Joseph Attamah Laweh mistake to open the scoring for the Congolese before Athletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey grabbed the equalizer.

After three games the Black Stars trail leaders Uganda by five points and Egypt by four points. Ghana are third with just two points and Captain Asamoah Gyan thinks it will be difficult to qualify for Russia 2018.

''It's difficult, honestly it's very difficult. Things didn't go well as expected and we didn't play the way we expected to play like tactical, mentally. I didn't know what went wrong but I will say the desire wasn't there today,'' Gyan said in a post-match interview.

''It's one of those days that things happen-Nobody is to be blamed here but it's one of those days that something to get on the field and the desire-I don't know what went wrong but I think it's one of those days.''

The Black Stars will travel to Brazzaville for the second leg in Congo on Tuesday.
