In 2019, the Ghana legend in an interview disclosed that it is his desire to play for the Porcupine Warriors club before he calls time.

In the last few weeks, Asante Kotoko has been linked with a move to sign Asamoah Gyan but has failed in their quest as a result of the high demands of the player’s representative.

Speaking in an interview, the striker says meeting his demands is the only way he will sign for the Ghana Premier League record holders.

"Everybody knows that I want to play for Asante Kotoko before I retire but it does not mean I will play for them for free. They must meet my demands before I join them.

“I am a professional footballer and everybody knows what I am capable of doing on the pitch”, the Black Stars great said.

Asamoah Gyan, 34, further opened up on his good relationship with Kotoko CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah.

“I have a very good relationship with Nana Yaw Amponsah the [Chief Executive Officer]," he said.

"He calls with and we chat sometimes but not football specifically. We talk about business at times well”, Gyan added.

The forward last played in India for NorthEast United FC. He parted ways with the club earlier this year and has since been a free agent.
