Ghanaian legend, Asamoah Gyan scored on his debut for NorthEast United on Wednesday as they drew 1-1 with the Indian National Team in a friendly encounter.

The former Sunderland forward joined the side last month following successful negotiations after he mutually parted ways with Turkish Super Lig side Kayserispor upon the expiry of his contract.

Having trained with his new teammates in the last couple of weeks, he was handed his first start for the club earlier today when they engaged the Indian National team in a friendly match.

Experienced attacker Sunnel Chhetri opened the scoring for the India National team with a fine strike on the 34th minute.

NorthEast United showed great resilience and gradually took control of the match before pulling parity some minutes to half time courtesy a strike from Black Stars legend Asamoah Gyan.

The match eventually ended in a draw with Gyan being substituted on the 68th minute.

The former Al Ain striker will be key for NorthEast United when the Indian National League starts later this month.
