Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan says they can still qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia despite their current position on the log.

The Black Stars started their qualification campaign on a jerky note as they drew goalless with Uganda and lost 2-0 to Egypt.

That leaves Ghana third in Group E with just a point- trailing leaders Egypt by five points and three points behind second place Uganda.

Ghana will take on Congo at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday and ahead of the  game captain Asamoah Gyan is urging Ghanaians not to lose hope.

“What I can tell them is that they shouldn’t give up though we haven’t started our qualification matches well but we have till the end,” Gyan said after Tuesday’s training.

“Friday’s game is what is important now and we need to go in all out and make sure we win then we see what happens.”
