Ahead of their forthcoming Ghana Premier League season, Asante Kotoko was supposed to fly to Dubai later this month, but the club's communication director revealed that the trip has been canceled.

The Porcupine Warriors scheduled October 22nd as the day they will jet off to the Gulf country to begin the second phase of their pre-season preparation, but the trip will be canceled, according to Moses Antwi Benefo, Kotoko's communication officer.

The latest coronavirus cases reported in Dubai, according to him, indicated that the club did not fly there as planned.

"Looking at the Covid situation in Dubai, it’s a bit scary which we don’t want to endanger the health of our players. Another country management was looking at was Turkey,” he told Oyerepa FM.

“The Black Stars story has informed our decision not to make the trip. We will now move to Accra to train at Accra Sports Stadium to familiarize with the pitch for some days before we return to Kumasi for the necessary traditional blessings before the season begins,” he added.
