Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Fredrick Asare targets Black Stars role

23-year-old goalkeeper Fredrick Asare of Asante Kotoko has expressed his desire to play for the Black Stars in the future.

Asare, who had represented the Accra Lions, feels up to the task and confident in his ability to contribute greatly to the senior national team.

"I dream of playing in the post for the Black Stars one day, and I don't see it far from my reach," said Asare after Kotoko's game against Hearts of Oak last Sunday, as quoted by kickgh.com.

"It is the reason why I am working so hard, and you can see that in my current performance. I am ready for this challenge, and I believe I have a lot to offer to the country."

However, he has to wait for another time to realize his Black Stars dream as he is not named in Chris Hughton's squad for the 2023 AFCON qualifying games against Angola this month.

Fredrick Asare signed for the defending Ghana Premier League champions at the start of the 2022/23 season and has been giving Ibrahim Danlad competition for the position.
