According to reports, coach Mariano Barreto is expected to leave the Porcupine Warriors after failing to win the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League title - losing it to their arch-rival Hearts of Oak.

Kotoko lost to Bechem United to hand over the title to the Phobians on match week 33 over the weekend.

"I got a contact from someone within Asante Kotoko Board telling me to come and coach the club next season if I'm free. I didn't have much detail about him but he only said he's a member of the Board of Directors of the club," he told Pure FM.

Romain Folz, who joined Ashgold on a two-year deal led them in just a game and left.

The reason for his immediate departure is still unknown, but it looks like the coach will be returning to Ghana in the coming months.
