Asante Kotoko coach Maxwell Konadu backs Matthew Cudjoe to succeed in GPL

Asante Kotoko coach Maxwell Konadu has backed highly-rated youngster Matthew Anim Cudjoe to succeed following series of impressive performances in the Ghana Premier League.

Anim joined the Porcupine Warriors from second-tier club Young Apostles FC on a season-long loan deal in December last year and has hit the ground running.

The 16-year-old climbed off the bench to score in the 86th minute as Asante Kotoko cruised to a 2-0 home win over Ebusua Dwarfs at the Baba Yara stadium.

According coach Maxwell Konadu, he is confident that the Ghana U-20 star is ready for the big stage.

"I think he is ready," he told reporters after the game.

"Brazil has been doing it, most of the countries have been doing it at even the world cup stage. I think when you see such a talent and you let it go, that won't be fair to Ghanaians."

"With the talent he has, we need to encourage him and not to rush him but gradually he is picking so let's wait. We are not saying he is the one to change everything for Kotoko but with time but with time he can only get better."

Asante Kotoko will make a short trip to Accra to face their arch-rivals Hearts of Oak in the match-day six of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
